My periods are usually very very regular. Over the weekend I had some spotting and cramping on Saturday. My period is not due until the end of the month. I had my doctor give me a blood test on Tuesday but it came out negative. My question is did I test to early? I thought what I was experiencing was implantation bleeding. Of course I have not missed a period yet but I was hoping that just maybe I would be pregnant.

Welcome, tan3. It sounds like it may be ovulation bleeding/spotting because you are mid cycle. It's not very common but I hope you bd'd (baby dancing- same as s_x) a couple days before & a day or 2 after you see that spotting because sperm can live up to 5 days, average is 3, though. I wasn't trying to be funny about the bd thing, either. I see that you said you are new so you may not know the language they use on here.

Lady D hahaha thank you so much for explaining what the bd'd meant because I did not have a clue!!! Thanks for your reply.

I agree with LadyD. It does sound like o spotting/cramping. How was your cycle last month? Anything different or out of the ordinary?

tan3 Welcome! I had the same spotting a little over 2 weeks ago and it was mixed in with the cm (cervical mucous) so it was kinda glossy. I have still not seen my period. I think I got a positive on the hpt I took this morning, but the line was really faint. I am going to test again in a couple of days. Anyay.. my point... =) my point is, I had never experienced that type of spotting before either.... maybe it's a good sign... Good luck on your wait.

I had what i thought was my period last month....which is always on the 17th and it was,and their always 5 to 6 days long....last month it was 2 days and lighter than usual....but i took a test 2 days ago,negative...any clues?

sorry and tan...it could be spotting or implantation bleeding wait and see if af comes at the end of the month...if not then you should test

nope my period was the same last month. I don't wanna get my hopes up high. Its just that my hubby was away on a weekend getaway with his friends the week before and lets just say it was alot going on in our bedroom so when I saw the spotting I got a tad bit too excited.

Another question I want to ask is what is the difference between ovulation bleeding and implantation bleeding?

angela1986 - June 14

I found a few things for you tan to look at....Ovulation Bleeding is different from menstrual flow. The color of Ovulation Bleeding varies from pink to red, is light and for 1 or 2 days duration. If bleeding occurs at 2 weeks interval then it is due to lack of ovulation and can be due to irritation to cervix or polyps in cervix or uterus. The exact cause of bleeding during ovulation is not clear and could be due to emerging follicles. Hormones prompt ovaries to produce around 20 follicles that contain an immature egg, and out of this only one follicle matures. It is during this process of maturing and bursting out from the follicle that pain or bleeding occurs...and from what i know implantation bleeding is when the embryo implants itself in your uterus therfore causing you to bleed for about 2-3 days. They say most women mistake this for af when really its not...it can also be lighter of a period...i hope that helps some

Thank you Angela that was very very helpful. Now another thing I wonder is cramping normal during ovulation too? I have read some had sharp pains maybe.

angela1986 - June 14

yes they also said cramping is possible...if its severe you should see a doctor...but im having them too!
