Hey. I am 7 weeks along and my first appointment is on Monday next week. I have noticed today that I have been very thirsty...and this past week my lips were chapped so I kind of thought I needed more water, but today I can't stop drinking it. I am only 24 years old and I dont really think that I am at a risk for Gestational Diabetes...any light shed on this would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe you're dehydrated? Keep drinking lots of fluids and let your dr know about this. GL!

Hey! First, congratulations! All the best for the next 33 weeks! I am 39 weeks as of today and have been thirsty from day 1. I can drink litres of water every day (literally, 4-6 litres!) and stiil want more! The amount of times I go pee is INSANE! I asked my doctor about it from the get go and so every time I went/go to the doctor, they test my urine (they should do this anyway at your 4 week/2 week/1 week interval appointments) for sugars and proteins. I would just mention it to your doctor and be diligent with your appointments and your pee samples ;-) Don't miss your gest. diabetes test at 28 weeks either! For me though, it turned out to be nothing, I'm just a thirsty girl! Good luck!

I have a friend that was 24 years old when she was pregnant with her son. And like you she was thirst all the time. She had gestational diabetes.

Hey starblue! Constant thirst is not necessarily mean you have gestational diabetes. I was 21 when I had my first child and I craved water all throughout my pregnancy. Your body will crave what it needs and water is definitely something you will need to drink a lot of while pregnant!! Good luck throughout your pregnancy!!
