Strange Situation

Ok, I'm sorry if this gets kind of long. My story is as follows: I started taking ortho tri cyclen when i was 13 or 14 for heavy periods, extremely painful cramping, nausea, depression etc. I wasn't having any problems with it up until about 6 months ago when I went to my doctor for a pelvic and pap. It was almost as if I started having side effects 5 years into being on it. So they switched me to Alesse, a generic form of Jasmin. I was prescribed to take it constantly to avoid getting my period. Well, that didn't work out so well -- had the same issues as being on Ortho. So I stopped taking that and have felt MUCH better. However, my fiance and I have been reduced to using foam and condoms (my body just does not respond well to the overload of hormones). Anyways, I haven't had a period for almost 3 months and have taken a bunch of pregnancy tests that all come out negative. The last test I took was about a week and a half ago, but since then I've started to feel a "different" kind of cramping. It almost feels like ... heavy? Almost as if there is weight there. I don't know how to describe it. I've also had the breat tenderness, back pain, nausea, light headed. I had all of those symptoms minus the weird cramping when I went to the doc for my last test. So I guess I have two questions... what is the cramping like when you get pregnant? how long does it last? Also, I haven't taken a blood test at the doctor yet. Is it possible that my hcg levels could be too low to show up on a HPT? What is the likelihood of this happening. I'm having a hard time finding any information on this. Any and all help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

If you are 3 months past your last cycle, if you were pregnant your HCG levels should be quite high at this point. If you read other women on this site though, there have been rare circ_mstances of HCG no showing up for awhile. I can't speak for everyone, but when I was pregnant, the cramps I had were very very mild and felt like a side pain like after exercise. I was told it was from the ligaments stretching. There's only one sure way to tell, blood test. If the blood test is negative and you still feel pregnant, request an ultrasound.

Thanks for your responses! Thankfully, I am not pregnant right now... I just got my period today. But I have heard stories about people taking a bunch of HPTs and they always come out negative. One of my friends didn't show a positive until she was 8 weeks!! I also spoke with my doctor and she said that there isn't really a difference in how sensitive HPT's and blood tests are, it's just that blood tests are more accurate, if that makes any sense (even slight movements of the HPT testing stick can cause errors). Anyways, thanks again! If I ever have anymore questions you'll be sure to hear from me. :)
