I just started taking metformin about one week ago because im trying to get pregnant i started my period about 3 days ago today is the forth day and it pretty much stoped. Is it normal to start your period after starting this pill? some say it is. Do you think it really works and how long does it take?

I had my period though and it only lasted for 3 days does this pill make your periods shorter? Has anyone experienced that?

I was put on b/c as well as metformin initially, after being diagnosed with PCOS back in April, so I don't know about the period thing, mine were way lighter for a few months, but showed up on schedule. After going off the b/c so we could get back into TTC, metformin did help regulate my cycles - and I got my BFP yesterday. It was our third cycle TTC this time around. Sometimes all you need is a little help, and metformin helped me. =)

My doc put me on it because I was not getting a period at all. I did not get a period for 3 months. Since I was put on it I started getting a period and it was getting closer and closer together. It would usually last 3 to 4 days. Sometimes 5 but not a lot. I was on it for 8 months. It helped me get preggo. I am currently 10weeks today. So it does help regulate period cycles. I am not sure about it helping to conceive. I know that it is medication for diabeties but a side affect from it is to cause a period. When I started getting a regular cycle, I could then find out when I ovulated. That is how I finally conceived. Good luck to you!

Hey! I wanted to give ya an update..I actually did get my period this morning! I am so excited, hopefully this along with tons of prayer is going to regulate my body! So, this means I had a 53 day cycle compared to the 6 month cycle I had last time! Woot WOot!
