My fiance thought he heard the baby's heartbeat yesterday just listening with his head on my stomach, but I can't hear anything with the stethoscope, I'm not even sure if I am pregnant I'm just pretty sure that I am.

Its probably your own heartbeat in your stomach. Thats perfectly normal. Your baby doesnt have a heartbeat strong enough to hear yet.

The embryonic heart starts beating 22 days after conception, or about five weeks after the last menstrual period, which by convention we call the fifth week of pregnancy. The heart at this stage is too small to hear, even with amplification, but it can sometimes be seen as a flickering in the chest if an ultrasound is done as early as four weeks after conception. Starting at about 20 weeks, the heartbeat can be heard without Doppler amplification. A special stethoscope called a fetoscope can be used, or the bell (concave) side of a regular stethoscope can be pressed firmly onto your abdomen. The heartbeat is best heard over the baby's back, which often seems firm when you feel around on the uterus. If you are overweight or if the placenta is on the front wall of the uterus, it may be difficult to hear the fetal heart by stethoscope. It gets easier later in the pregnancy.

I first heard it at 12 weeks through a doppler at the docs office. he wouldnt be able to hear it by putting his head on ur stomach and i;ve never heard of anyone feeling it but who knows. the babys heardbeat will be much much faster than wat urs would be.

yeah its probably the heartbeat, or maybe gas!!

I don't think he heard a baby's heartbeat, especially if you don't even know if you are pregnant yet! What he heard was your heartbeat.
