no not if you ovulated BCP will only stop you ovulating. what i would suggest if you dont want to get preggo go get the morning afterpill. if you think that you may have been ovulating

how long after s_x can u wait to take the morning after pill for it to still be effective?

No going on birth control will not prevent you from becoming pregnant. You could take a morning after pill if you don't want to become pregnant. However, it all depends on when you ovulated (usually this is 14 days after the first day of your period but it depends on the length of your period) if you will get pregnant or not.

The first dose must be taken within 72 hours of unprotected or inadequately protected intercourse.

Plan B is an emergency contraceptive that can be used to prevent pregnancy following unprotected intercourse or a known or suspected contraceptive failure (i.e., a broken condom). To obtain optimal efficacy, the first tablet should be taken as soon as possible within 72 hours of intercourse. The second tablet must be taken 12 hours later. Call your OBGYN office and ask for the emergency on call physician OR you can go to the ER or any walk in clinic and get an Rx for Plan B.
