The last two days i have had bad braxton hick contractions, they start around afternoon and last all through the evening. It starts with just a feeling of general stomach tightness and discomfort, then twinges and sharp pains start occurring down the sides of my stomach and then it progresses to what I felt last night like really uncomfortable menstrual pain/cramps around my lower stomach/grown with a dull ache in my lower back. I was sitting all yesterday evening, tried walking around and doing other activities - nothing seemed to really help. I know women say that Braxton Hick Contractions come and go and don't last more than a few minutes, but mine felt like a continuous pain!! I was starting to get worried when out of nowhere they died off and disappeared, only to then return again 1/2-1hr later, but by that point I was so tired I ended up going to bed and they seemed to drift away luckily! It's quite scary to think that Braxton Hicks can be so uncomfortable and at times slightly painful, makes me wonder what the heck I am in for with actual Labour!! I still have 10wks till I hit the 40wk mark too. Yikes!! Can any one tell me if they experienced braxton hicks starting at around my time, and if they continued or got worse as each week passed?

I am 32 weeks, my first BH was at around 30 weeks and at the time, they were not acompanied by any cramps, but now, whenever I get them I get crampy too. And the cramps last. Sometimes i just notice the cramps for a while without ever having noticed the tightening of the uterus. I brought it up to my doctor and she said as long as I don't have more than 4 actual contractions in an hour, I am fine. She said i could take tylenol if I needed it, but I haven't had to yet. So i notice some kind of BH nearly every day now, some hurt more than others. I guess we just have to deal with it until the birth! But I know what you mean about making you worry what actual labor will be like! These hurt enough, i can't even imagine how I will handle the real thing!!!!
