I am 37 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child, and the baby still hasn't turned head down, or I haven't dropped yet. With my other 2 pregnancy I was dropped and started dialating 1 month prior to their due date. My OB says the baby is still lying trans-vers(sideways). What would be causing this to happen ( or not happen) and can I still go into labour and the baby come with it not head down yet????? Someone please help!!!

First of all, the baby doesn't always drop before labor, especially if this isn't your first. Second, part of the job of contractions is to position the baby correctly, so more than likely that will still happen before you are ready deliver. There are also ways doctors and coax the baby to change positions without having to intervene. I wouldn't even worry about it. The fact that the baby is sideways would probably be why he/she hasn't dropped, but again, they don't have to drop before labor starts.

Angelbebe- Thanks for your input relating to my question, it's greatly appreciated. I hope that the baby changes positions soon, as I would not like to deal with all the factors contributing to breech abbies if that is going to be the case. I herd about pelvic menipulation, and how the doctors "try" and turn the baby with hand movements from the outside. I guess I will find out at my next OB appointment.
