3 Days Late No Contractions

I'm 40 weeks and 3 days and 1 cm dilated (and have been dilated this much for 3 weeks now). I'm getting very frustrated and i'm not even sure if i know if i'm having contractions or not. For the most part i feel great but often in the evenings and throughout the night i have been getting menstrual like cramping (low back pain and lower abdominal pain. I feel tons of pressure and often i get very painful shooting pains down my leg and in my groin, left side more than right. Its bad enough to stop me from doing what i was doing. Laying down helps but does not make it go away. I have been attributing it to the baby being larger now and moving around on nerves etc. Anyone have similiar issues? i'm starting to feel like this baby is never coming out and if she does (induction etc.) its going to be a huge ordeal.

Yeah I have similar issues! From how your symptoms is sounding... you are about to go any time now. Like others said... It doesn't hurt to ask your doctor about induction, I actually think it'll work for you. You know, since you are pa__s due and all!

I totally feel your pain. I am just going on 37 with my second child and have been having annoying contractions for almost 2 weeks now. I was in the hospital twice for it because they were 2-4 minutes apart for several hours. They said my body is just deciding what it wants to do but so far i am only 1 cm and at my last dr. appt. i hadn't changed at all. the contractions haven't really gotten any stronger but every time it starts back up again i wonder if this is going to be it.

It sounds so frustrating to not know what exactly is going on and when! Sophia, they definately sound like contractions...hrsmith, I'm nervous to hear you're having contractions for 2 weeks straight and are 37 weeks! I'm 36 weeks and not having any, which is fine because I'm not in a rush. It really sounds Sophia like you're going to go into labor any day!! Best of luck to you!!!!!

Sophia, you just described the past two weeks for me exactly. I don't want to make you feel any more discouraged than you already are, but I am 41 weeks and 3 days and I just spent the day in the hospital for my first cervidill induction, which, I am sorry to say, has done absolutely nothing. This doesn't mean you will have to suffer the same fate, but if you do, it isn't that bad. I was induced with my first and now again with my second and it looks like I'll be one of those women who never gets to experience natural labour. So much emphasis is put on the birth, but really, it's only a few short hours compared to the 9 months prior and the lifetime after. Don't sweat it. The important thing is to keep yourself and your baby healthy.
