Hey everyone, I'm sorry this is late but i haven't had a chance to get on the computer much. Alyssa arrived on January 27 at 11:42PM. I was due February 14 but had been having false labor for about a week. On the morning of Jan 27 we went to the hospital as my contractions were five minutes apart. I was only 2 cm dilated. I went home with a shot of morphine and rested all day. I could feel the contractions every five minutes but they weren't painful. At 6pm we left for the hospital. When we got to the hospital i was 4 cm. I asked for a epidural. By 9pm i was 6cm. By 9:15 i was 9 cm and my water broke. i was fully dilated at 10 but didn't have the urge to push. So my husband and i rested until 11 when i started pushing. At 11:30 she was crowning but the doctor wasn't there yet. I sat through three contractions (thankfully didn't hurt as the epidural was still in effect). The doctor arrived at 11:40 and Alyssa was born at 11:42PM. It was a very fast delivery and went very smoothly. As she was delivered at 37 1/2 weeks she was a little small - only weighing 5lbs 15oz and 17 1/4 inches long. She is beautiful and we have spent the last two weeks getting to know each other. I can't believe the love i feel for her everytime i look at her. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask - although i didn't post much i found this board to be very helpful during my pregnancy. Amber

congratulations!! wow, doctor arrived just in time, eh? sounds like you had a relatively easy labor. i have a question, were your contractions prior to the epidural unbearable? im in NO way opposed to getting an epi and ill request it as soon as i possibly can ha, i just have no idea what it will feel like up until that point? the only thing i heard has been "menstrual cramps times 10".

The contractions prior to the epidural weren't unbearable but i did definately have to breathe through them. They would start in my back and then come around to my stomach. They are hard to describe. The epidural was such a relief to get. I would definately recommend it. Amber
