I am 27wks and have come across some information on Raspberry Leaf Tablets. I am taking Blackmores brand antenatal vitamins and they also do Raspberry Leaf Tablets. They say to start taking them from the third trimester to all the way through after birth. Supposidely helps to tone the uterus and make contractions (braxton & labour) more efficient and can shorter 2nd stage of labour. Am thinking of taking the raspberry leaf, does anyone else take the tablets or tea or have any experience/opinion on this? Thanks

I took Raspberry Leaf Tea with my second baby. It put me into false labour three times (regular contractions but no dilation) and the eventual true labour was the most painful and longest I have had out of three(so far!). I didn't dilate until they broke my waters after he went into distress and then they told me I was going for an emergency section. He turned and heartbeat came back up but there was meconium in my waters and he had a chest infection (pneumonia due to the meconium) and stayed in the NICU for two days to monitor his breathing before being allowed 'bedside care'. He was term and after having a 34weeker before him I had more problems with him than I did with a premature baby. I talked things over with my Consultant and Midwife afterwards as the labour freaked me and hubby out and they strongly recommended I didn't touch it again and I had no inclination to! For some people it works and for others it will have no effect - for me it just didn't agree with me at all!

I have the tea but was told not to use it until after your due date and to consult with your doctor before you do so, it does bring on contractions and you dont want that to early in labour i would say hold off until you can talk to you doctor

I'm drinking the tea. My midwife gave me the go ahead at 38 weeks. Dont know if its doing anything but its nice enough to drink. :-)

I'm drinking the tea, but only about one cup a day. Once I hit 37 weeks, I'll start drinking about 3 to 4 cups a day. With my last labor, I don't know if it was coincidence or not, but I walked around dialted to about a 3 for a month and once I started drinking the tea several times a day I went into full labor (litterally that day) but again, I don't know if it was just coincidence.
