Hello, I was wondering if anyone was having a scheduled c-section because of the size of the baby. Our little one is measuring off the charts, over the 90th percentile and will be too big to deliver va___ally. Anyone else out there like me?

I just found out yesterday that I will be having a scheduled c-section on Nov. 14th b/c I am at 36 weeks and he was "sized" on the sonogram at 6 lbs. 11 oz. The doctor recommended it b/c he thinks that he may be even larger than the "sizing" is portraying and I have a small bony pelvis. Also, they only let you push for 2 hours at my hospital so he thought that this would be the best thing for both of us.

Tricia- I had a ultrasound at 37 weeks which showed my baby breech and weighing about 9 pounds. They scheduled me for a c-section at 39 weeks. I had my baby on October 21st by c-section. He weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces. My doctor told me that they would not attempt to turn him because of his size. I also tested positive for beta strep so it was for the best. The recovery from c-section really stinks. I still have pain but get my staples removed tomorrow. I cannot drive or lift anything heavier than the baby. My other 2 deliveries were v____ally and really fast. I delivered them without pain medication. All said and done I don't much care how I got him. He is quite georgeous, especially for a boy. They say c-section babies have great color and great shaped heads. His skin is also perfect. Good luck to you and wish for a speedy recovery.

Hi, Tricia, I too am having a scheduled ceserean although for different reasons. This will be my second c-section, the first an emergency done at 34 weeks. This one was completely by choice. I don't know if you have had a ceserean before but there is really nothing to be afraid of. In fact the worst part for me was the i.v. and catheter. I've heard that during a scheduled ceserean you can ask to have the catheter put in after receiving the epidural. I'm definately asking for that this time around! I am looking forward to having an extra day in the hospital to recover after the birth as well. Recovery for me last time went very well, within a week the pain of the incision was more of a dull throbbing and of course they will give you good pain killers for the initial two weeks of recovery anyway. I only needed mine for about eight days and then ibuprofen did the trick. I took my first half mile walk by day 12 and felt 100% by the two week mark. I did not have staples and hope not to have them this time around either as I have heard there is more chance of infection of the incision site with them. My st_tches were all inside and my tummy had only a skin adhesive that I was able to wash off in the shower by the second week. All in all I was happy with the procedure and the recovery time. I hope all goes well with you!

I wish I was having a scheduled c-section because I really think this baby is huge. But I don't know for sure because they only do 1 ultrasound your whole pregnancy at my doctors office. My husband was born 3 weeks early and was 10 pounds and I was born on time and also 10 pounds. My mom has me all freaked out that I'm going to be in labor for 26 hours like she was (great support, huh?) and is telling me there is no way I can have this baby v____ally. But my doctor doesn't seem concerned!

I had to have an emergency c-section with my baby b/c his cord was wrapped around his neck and his heart rate dropped. He was born Oct.22. That was the worst experince for me b/c it was my first c-section. You could hear them cutting and you can feel the Dr. tugging on you which freaked me out, I thought that I was going to pa__s out b/c it seem like they were being so ruff. The recovery was like torture OMG. I'm still recovering but me and baby is doing fine. I got my tubes tied, b/c I do not plan on going through this again my baby make my third boy and no girls but that is what God blessed me with and I am pleased. Good luck with your section hope everything go good for you.
