I'm totally debating on this....I was planning to go on leave right before Christmas (due 1/4) so at 38 weeks, but I know a lot of women go on at 36 weeks. What are you going to do or what have you already done? Thanks!

Hi patience! I was gonna work till about 38 weeks but I started at 36...I am about 36 1/2 weeks now. It got to hard because I spend 8 hours a day 40 hours a week on my feet and I felt like my baby was falling out. So I started my leave this week and I have felt a million times better. Why put yourself through the pain you know. I am just worried about getting bored, although I have plenty to do around the house. I have been nesting major!!! I would just work until your not comfortable's not worth the pain....goood luck!!!!!

I sit at a computer all day, but I just am thinking about being able to get a few weeks to myself as I know it's going to get harder and harder as these last weeks come. I'm seriously considering 36 weeks now too. Thanks and good luck Jodie!

I sit at a desk too, and I was thinking I was going to work until I go into labour, then decided that wasn't a good idea, so I moved it back to 38 weeks, now I'm seriously considering 36 weeks too, then I'll have time to get everything ready, but I'm scared I'll lose my mind if I don't have anything to do but wait. Let me know what you decide because I'm having the same issue

Hi Patience, i will be leaving at 36 weeks as well. My due date is January 01,05 and i am already starting to feel tired. I work for a freight forwarding company and you can only image with the holiday season coming people try and get all their parcels and cargo moving so the stress and pressure is too much too handle.. so i will just relax, stary home and enjoy the last weeks of my pregnancy.

I will be leaving at 38 weeks also. I am a teller at a credit union so always up and down in my chair and moving around. So far I am sick of working, but I figure I can last a little bit longer. I think I would go crazy if I had too much time at home - if she comes late, that would be five weeks off work for leaving at 36 weeks. So hopefully I will get at least a couple of days off, but if she comes before then I will be just as happy to finally have her here - I am currently 36 weeks. Good Luck!

I went on maternity leave at 37 weeks. I get up at 5am in the morning and don't get home till around 6:30pm. It was getting a bit to much for me, especially since I didn't sleep through the night. I have a back case of insomnia.

Hey there. I am currently 39 weeks and 4 days. I went on maternity leave 2 weeks ago because I teach and it was getting extremely hard. Just make sure you have lots of things to keep you occupied. I did good for about a week and a half and not I am going absolutely stir crazy. I am too uncomfortable to do anything and I am sooo focused on how to get the baby out of me. I am due on Monday and would love to have her NOW!! It is nice being home and not having to work, but it is also hard not thinking about going into labor and all the little twinges that you feel, thinking something is going to happen. Good luck everyone!

Based on what all of you are doing or have said, I think 37 weeks is good for me. Looks like 12/16 will be my last day! YAY! And good luck to us all!

Hi Patience, I am actually working up until delivery. I am a nursing instructor. I know that it is not going to be easy, but I really just want to spend as much time as possible with him after he is here. I am taking 12 weeks off. Also, I know that I will go mad sitting at home waiting for him, but that is just me.

Hanna - October 30

I am going on maternity leave at 36 weeks 9 (right before christmas) because in our country it isn't allowed to work on any longer (The Netherlands). I can start my maternity leave at 34 weeks though.

Jodie - October 31

Here in australia youre not allowed to work past 34 weeks unless you have a certificate from your dr. School holidays started at the same time i reached 34 weeks so thats when i started, with 2 other children there is no time to get bored

Considering FMLA only gives you 12 and the fact that my husband and I have to share the 12 because we work at the same company and I'm closer to the hospital when I'm at work... I'm waiting to take my leave after the baby is born and spend the most time with him/her.

erin - November 1

I am 36 weeks and working until delivry. I only get 6 weeks and want it all with the baby. I am currently working 10 hour days and have an 1.5 hour drive to work which I'm nervous about, but the hospital is half way in between so as long as I don't get stuck in traffic I think I'll be okay. I think I would go insane at home anyway, I hate day time TV so I would make an excuse to go the store and spend money that we don't have so work is a good place for me. I have a desk job and have only gained 12 lbs so far and I just started to experience minor swelling so physically I'm not totally miserable.

Im 36 weeks and plan on leave at 38 weeks. My due date has been switched so much that I dont know what I can count on at this point. I just hope the baby is born in Nov., my due date is Dec. 2nd but the first due date was Nov. 25th. uuhhhh!

Jo - November 1

My due date was yesterday and I'm still at work, but I sit behind a desk so it's pretty easy.
