Hey ladies - Sorry I haven't been on for a while, it's been hard for me to find the balance between baby and life. I wanted to let you all know that you can find pictures of Boston on my piczo website at little-aldred.piczo.com! To me, he's perfect! I also wanted to share my birth story, or at least and abbreviated version of it. I began contractions on Sunday morning (Sept. 30) and they lasted all day long, getting shorter and shorter between. I left for the hospital at 3 am on Monday morning. When I got there, the contractions were 7 minutes apart and I was 2-3 cm and 75% effaced. Thought for sure that things were going to keep progressing like that but they didn't. I was in extreme back labor and a lot of pain! I could barely walk but that's what I needed to do. Anyhow, by monday night, I was 100% effaced but still only 2-3 cm. They stretched me, I walked, I had some Tylenol # 3 to sleep but nothing was working. I was 5 minutes apart at this point and stayed that way all Monday night and Tuesday morning. That's when they finally decided to start me on Oxytocin...but I was in a lot of pain. When I hit 5 cm..at about 3pm on Tuesday, I got an epidural! OMG...heaven in a needle! Anyhow, I didn't hit 10 cm until about 1 am on Wednesday and at this point, after nearly 72 hrs of labor, I was so exhausted that I had a hard time to push. I tried pushing for 2 hrs but got hardly anywhere. They called in a specialist, but I was too far along for a c-section...thank goodness! I ended up with a large episiotomy, 6 tugs with the vacuum, and 2 hard pushes with the forceps before he came out! Come to find out, he wasn't completely face down, he was kind of facing sideways...that's why he wasn't budging too much each time I pushed. Anyhow, he was born at 3:35 am and was 8lbs 7oz and 20 inches long. He took to the br___t well and have had good luck since then! He left the hospital on Friday at 8 lbs 4 oz and at his once week check up, he was 8 lbs 14 oz! He's 2.5 weeks old now and it's amazing how different he looks already. So, even after the c__ppiest labor ever, all the blood, sweat, tears and pain, he's very much worth it! Thanks for all the well wishes, nudges to get my butt in gear and post my story and pictures...I hope you are all well and you enjoy! ~ Sarah
