Bouncer Or Swing

For those of you who are moms and have had both, which do you or your baby prefer, a bouncer or a swing? I am trying to decide which to buy and don't know if one will be more useful than the other. Do they serve the same purpose, especially when the babies are younger or did you find that both came in handy for different times/reasons?

First time mom here but I'm getting both only because I bought a bouncy seat at a rummage sale for $5 that vibrates and lights up all these little stars that hang from it. I think they can be bigger and still use the swing where as the bouncy seat doesn't? Not sure.

I bought the swing that sits on the floor it is smaller. My son never really bounced much in his bouncer and grew out of it too quickly.

I am a first time mom, but I received the bouncer, even though I really don't think it bounces, ( It is the Fisher Price baby papasan) at my shower and I am still going out and purchasing the fisher price papasan swing.

Both of my babies preferred the swing, but the bouncer is nice because it is more portable. Nothing wrong with getting both but the bouncer is for slightly older babies. Newborns just don't bounce :)

Hands down-BOUNCER!! My son loved it so much. The one we have is a vibrating kick n play. Very entertaining. My son never really like the swing.

I know I'll go broke on batteries. My ba__sinet vibrates and plays music and so does the bouncer and then there's the swing. Ahhh!!!

Heidi I think I will go broke on batteries too, my pack n play also comes with a lighted monitor and a musical gadget, the swing and the bouncer both take batteries also because the bouncer plays music too.

I forgot the monitors too. Ahh!!! I think I might buy a rechargeable pack and get the charger for it. Might save in the longrun! Kids stuff always needs batteries.

Thats a good thought Heidi, I got a Target gift card, I guess I know what I will be buying with it, I forgot how much of an extra expense batteries can be!

I'll remember that too if I get a gift card or money. I'll buy a charging kit!

The one I have is a bouncer/swing/vibrator combo. I got it at babies R Us.

Get both! My 2 month old loves his vibrating, musical bouncer for entertainment - keeps him occupied when we eat dinner - he smiles a lot! The swing puts him right to sleep when I can't get him to take a nap any other way. Somedays he likes one over the other - it changes all the time

P.S. Joey is almost 3 months old and still using both

Get both....The swing would put my daughter to sleep. The bouncer I used whenever I was in the kitchen doing something. That way I was always in her site. I also used the bouncer once she started eating solids. Since she was still to small for the high chair...I used to put the bouncer on the table, then stand in front of her to feed her.
