shes been catching on really well and ive been feeding her every two to three hours but she seems like no matter how much she eats today, she wont stop crying...and i think its that she just wants to have something to suck on, because i introduced a pascifier to her tonight and she calmed. is this going to get in the way of my br___tfeeding her ??? if so, i wont give it to her again... just wondering if any of you had experience with this...shes a little over two days old.

Since she's doing well with bfing, I think you'll be ok. Two of my kids needed a pacifier for the first month or two because they had the need to suck a lot. It didn't interfere with my bfing. Good luck :-)

It depends. It is usually recommended that until b___stfeeding is established not to introduce anything else as it an cause confusion and latching on. You may find she is fine but wanting to suck can also be a sign of wind/colic and it can hit straight away unfortunately. Congratulations on your little girl though!

I personally think pacifiers and great for those first few months it really helps calm them and keeps your b___b from being one i found no problems with it interfering with b___stfeeding good luck.

My cousin b___stfed and used a pacifier from the hospital on with out any problems at all, but every baby is different and the only way you'll really know is by trying. If she seems to start getting fussy when you feed her, consider holding off on the pacifier but if she keeps doing great, no worries! Saw her pics by the way, she's beautiful!!! Looks like you, I think.

I gave my LO a paci the first day and he has never had a problem latching, He is my first so we were not experienced at all...but everything worked out great. He is not two months and eats and latches like a champ! But he does like his Paci alot....he needs it to fall asleep :)

Amanda, when they're that young they tend to want to cluster feed - my DD did this and wanted to eat alllllll the time. You just have to feed on demand, whenever they want. My LO still eats about every hour during the day, not every 2-3 hours, and the doctor said it's normal for some babies to do so and to just keep feeding her when she wants to eat. As for the pacifier, supposedly you're not supposed to introduce it until later, but I introduced the bottle in my DD's first week of birth. She never liked the pacifier, so I"m not much help there. Good luck!

C_Baer- Congrats by the way on your baby girl. I saw pics of her on the other site and she is so cute!

Thanks greeklady! On the babysite? She is so precious. =) Are you expecting or already a mom?

My ds used a paci not long after bringing him home. They are miracle workers for moms to get rest. Up til then it was my finger. He eventually grew out of it after a few months. I think if ur latch is fine and she is eating well then go ahead w/ the paci. Great that ur doing well:-) COngrats on ur lo!!
