Check Ups And Labor

Hi, I was just wondering if it is possible that a check up in the last weeks of pregnancy has ever been known to start labor? I think I lost my mucous plug after my check up last week and I didn't know it it was caused by being checked or it was just readyto go. I am 36 1/2 weeks. Thank you.

it might....hospital I go to will not do any pelvics exam because of that reason ....they say they dont like to mess around down unless you have a problem.

are you sure it was your plug? it's common to have spotting and discharge after a cervical exam.

My dr doesn't do pelvic exams without cause because she could accidentally break the water.

My doc did a pelvic exam and had to do a pap smear because the one I had in the beginning was abnormal. She told me that I could have some spotting afterwards. I had no spotting at all. However, two days later, a blob of brownish snot came out when I was urinating and I have been losing bits and pieces of yellow snottish looking stuff ever since. So, I think it is possible that it was your plug and it could be due to the internal exam.
