Contractions

I am 31 weeks pregnant and have been having contractions for about 2 months now. But the last week or so they have been really painful and they take my breath away. But as long as I am not on my feet I do not have any sometimes I will but they are not as painful and they are even worse if I am urniating and having a contraction. Should I call my dr or wait and see what happens?

At 31 weeks, I would for sure call your care provider and let them know they are getting stronger. Your baby needs to stay in the womb as long as possible, at least until 37 weeks. So, call today and let them know what is going on!

I agree with Melissa. I am 31 weeks and none of my contractions are painful. Just a tightening and hardening of the uterus, but no pain.

I am 36+ weeks and went to the OB triage with contractions and the baby hadn't moved a lot that morning. No matter what I did, for nearly three hours, the contractions got closer and closer and more intense. Then poof! As soon as they put me on the monitor, they went away. False alarm. I was angry at the doctor though as she insinuated that I didn't know what a contraction was after 18 hours of labor for my first child! When in doubt call. There are so many good sites for guidance too on the net regarding the differences between real and false labor. A lot of times it is tough to tell the difference. If you are high risk in any way, always contact your OB.

I am 29 weeks pregnant, I agree with the others about calling your doctor. The baby grows best in the womb. If youv'e ben having them for 2mths now then maybe they are just braxtion hicks pains but i would still call the doctor to be sure.
