Hi eli83- Im not to sure why exactly this happens. But my son was born on Thurs May 4th and he had his cord around his neck. The dr was pretty much expecting it because when I pushed his heart rate dropped so as soon as he was out they unhooked it, cut it and took him to get oxygen. The dr said its more common than it seems. I would say though dont worry about it my son is fine and was crying about 5 mins after he got his oxygen.

Yep, I have also heard this is common. Unless the cord is pinched and cutting off the oxygen, things usually work out fine. The cord is very stretchy, apparently.

eli83 this is a very common thing. I tend to have pretty long cords and with both my other girls the cord was wrapped around there necks twice and once around there legs. Niether one had to get oxygen or any intervention. We are more active now days during PG with alot more things on our plates. My dr said she sees this more and more as time goes on. They give the mom oxygen during the delivery if they see a decline in the babys heart rate at all. I really wouldnt worry your self over this. take care.
