Did I Lose My Mucous Plug Not Sure How Do I Know

I'm 38 weeks. Yesterday morning around 9am, I went to the restroom and when I wiped there was a large amount of mucousy, jelly like brown gunk! It was unlike anything I've seen before. Then around 3pm I noticed a little bit more of it. I haven't had any since. Do you think it was my mucous plug? How do I know? What do I do next?

It sounds like it could have been your mucus plug. Unfortunetly it isn't a strong indicator that labour is around the corner because the plug can regenerate itself. But then it could also mean labour is within sight. There is nothing you can do expect watch for contractions that have a pattern to them and over time increase in intensity & pain. You should give the L&D ward a call if you can time them 5 mins apart. With my 1st pregnancy I started losing pieces of my plug from around 36wks...I went into labour at 39w6d (started with menstral cramps, then my bloody show, followed by my waters breaking).

That"s what it sounds like - but it doesn't mean too much. Labor could be around the corner or it could be a couple of weeks. Like DDT said, keep an eye out for contractions! It does give you some hope that it's getting close though!!! Especially at 38 weeks. I just started losing some of mine a couple of days ago and I'm 39 weeks on Monday. Good luck!
