Exams Last Month Of Pregnancy

Hello, for those of you that are in the last 4-6 weeks of your pregnancy- what are the internal exams like? I mean, do they hurt like pap smears hurt sometimes? Do they cause bleeding?

I just went for my 36 week exam, and that didn't hurt. My midewife just uses her fingers to feel the cervix. Nothing like the pain of a pap smear...and if your softened up then maybe some bleeding, but not enough to worry.

Wow, another Erica on the board - cool! Hopefully you have a doctor who doesn't go fiddling around up there much in your final weeks of pregnancy; there are doctors (to include mine) who believe that if the pregnancy is progressing smoothly and there's nothing going on, they won't do any internals unless you really, really want to know if you've dilated any...they figure if it ain't broke, don't fix it! And I must be in the minority; none of my Pap Smears have ever hurt...I suppose it depends on the person and the doctor and how much one is relaxed during the procedure, but I could be mistaken. :)
