I am 34 weeks today.. having my strep test done on the 9th.. but i was wondering how do they do an internal exam? I know not all docs do them until later, but just to ease my mind, i wanted to know what to expect just in case....

I wouldn't really call it an "internal exam"...all they are going to do is take the swab for your strep B test and check you for dialation and effacement...basically, they just have you relax your knees out to the side, stick two fingers in you and check to see if you are effaced or dialated....it can be uncomfortable if your cervix is still way high up and they have to really reach for it, but if it is down lower, really all it feels like is a bit of pressure... Its done and over with in a matter of seconds.....getting a pap done is WAY worse than this.
