Hello Ladies, For the last few weeks I have had horrible swelling of my feet and ankles. It isn't painful, which I am thankful for, but I am just tired of having "kankles". I am really embarassed about it. Does anyone know of a way to relieve the swelling? I have been drinking lots of water, elevating my feet and trying to keep my salt intake down but nothing seems to help. Thanks!

Hi Kristy! I have had really bad swelling as well! I am 37 weeks but they have been like this for a long time now. My doctor told me at my last visit that there is really nothing you can do about it...just the things you listed...I do the same thing 24-7. He said it is all just from being pregnant & to stay in the A.C. and off my feet. Not to be driving around alot! I have done that and mine is just worse than it was...my fingers and hands are getting bad now. Don't be embara__sed about it...everyone knows stuff like this happens to pregnant women. I hate it also! Sorry if I am not much help....just thought you should know you are not alone!

How much exercise are you getting? I haven't been able to walk in the park much since about wk 25 as my tummy is too heavy, so I started swimming. I go every day at lunch time but if I miss a few days (we had friends stay a couple of times) I start to swell in hands and feet. Getting back into the pool fixes it right up. If you don't know how to swim, you could do water walking (I've seen other pregnant ladies just walking up and down the pool). The lack of gravity feels fantastic! I also take magnesium supplements and my blood pressure is better than it's ever been. I am usually slightly on the high side, even when not pregnant but a few weeks on magnesium really helped.

I definetely have kankles, and my size 6 now can't fit into 8's. The only thing that works for me is propping up my feet and laying a bag of frozen veggies acros my ankles. It doesn't work too well, but it feels so good and relieves the pressure. My blood pressure last Thursday was 80/60... really low, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not, but this weekend was when my swelling started. Kankles suck!

I too have kankles and think they are hideous looking. I even now have people commenting not only on how big my tummy is but how big my ankles are. I feel like thanking them for telling me something I already knew and for making me feel even more unattractive. My question is this ladies, what happens to these big things that we are calling kankles after we have the baby? Is there hope that they will go back to the same size they were before there "not so amazing transformation"?
