I have been fighting swelling since about 28 weeks! I'm 39 now and I found that cutting back on salt made a world of difference! I didn't really think that I had a high sodium diet to start with but when i got to looking at it, there is a lot of sodium in a lot of stuff! I tried it out to see if low-sodium would help at about 31 weeks and actually LOST 4lbs in 2 days from water weight!! I could believe it helped that much! I was also sceptical about the drink lots of water theory, but again at 35 weeks I was retaining more water than I would like, so in addition to low-sodium I started carrying around a jug of water and drinking all day. It also helped a LOT! I'm getting induced tomorrow and have managed to keep my swelling from becoming a problem with diet. It's been a pain (especially since my diet was already very restricted due to food allergies), but it was worth it!

I was getting it all the time from about 34 weeks on... it gets very painful and annoying too! The weather was starting to get warmer so thats why I thought they might be acting up. I was still at work and walking more than normal, so even drinking lots of water wasnt helping... I hated it cuz they looked so ugly... now that I am home on mat leave they are better.. I put them up and they are better. I get spotting on my legs tho, discolouration... like white spots on my slightly tanned legs.. it looks really ugly...

standing for too long does it to me too! We went to look for a new car last weekend and by the time we sat down to talk to the guy I didn't even have ankles anymore. I get that white spotty look too, plus now if my feet/ankles are bad now I get bruised purple marks too. That's only if I'm on my feet too much though...usually it's pretty manageable. I don't know how the girls that have to be on their feet for work do it though!!

hi, my feet, ankles, legs, and hands have been swellling for the past week or 2.. it sucks!!! it is WAY worse when i am on my feet a lot, so i've just been trying to take it easy. THANK GOD i'm done w/ work or i'd hate to see what i would look like, b/c i had to stand ALL day. in the mornings ,it's not so bad, but it does get progressively worse as the day goes on... i joke that my toes look like vienna sausages, lol! the most uncomfortable part is feeling like i can't bend my ankles and how "thick" my legs feel all the way up to my knees... as if we didn't feel fat before , right??!!

Oh my goodness... I have been having a terrible time with swelling feet/ankles!!! Mine started over a month ago... I am 29 weeks now. At my last Dr's appointment she was really worried because she said that I should not have that much swelling for how far along I am..... so she admitted me to the hospital for tests. They monitored the baby and me for like 3 hours, and took tons of blood and urine tests. I think she was worried about pre-eclampsia. Well, all the tests came back pretty normal.... she said I was dehydrated, and low in protien, and I need to take iron supplements.... but baby was fine, and no pre-eclampsia. Also, she said to cut down on sodium.... which, like some of you said, you just don't realize how much salt is in stuff!!! One thing that has helped for me during the day is wrapping my feet and ankles and compressing them. Then, I take the wraps off right before bed and elevate my feet all night. It definitely has helped. It is tender... and I still have like 2 1/2 months to go!!!!!!! Arghhh!!

Oh, forgot... one good thing, I am a school teacher.... and next week is my last week of school.... so this summer I am planning on elevating my feet all day long! :)))
