I just got the result from my 3 hr glucose test and it's positive :((. I spoke to the nurse from my doctor's office and she scheduled me an appointment with the doctor who does my ultrasound( I have to go a different doctor to do ultrasound). Do u think it's weird? and the appointment is not till next month. I thought when you were diagnosed with GD you're supposed to meet with a dietician asap. What do u guys think? I am 29 weeks.

Well, mom2be11, my experience is this, I will be 31 week this coming Thursday, and I just did my 3 hour test 5/20. By 5/22 I had the results (I was 5 over on 1 tube of blood and 8 over on a 2nd tube) and on 5/24 I met with my doctor and started testing my blood sugar that morning. What I have to do is limit my carb intake to no more then 65 grams of carbs a day, and test my blood 4 times a day (as soon as i wake up, 2 hours after breakfast, 2h after lunch, and 2h after dinner). And my doctor does not want my number over 120. I am actually kind of shocked myself that they do not have you meeting with a doctor quicker then in a month. I mean by the time they get you set up with everything you will be practically ready to deliver. Did they say why they want you to have an ultrasound? What were your results?

Hi DWilson924, thats what I thought too..why do I have to wait for a month. The nurse didnt say anything..everytime I talk to her she always sound like shes in a hurry! I asked her about the results, if the numbers were really high, she just said..OOh, its not that bad.. I have to go for my monthy check up on the 7th next month so hopefully my doctor will explain everything. Thank u so much for your response.

It is not a problem. Thats what we are all here for is to answer each others questions and help out. If you want to chat more, there is a Gest. Diabetes thread going that is actually really good reading material because the girls in it have spoke a lot about what they eat and things they do. But best of luck to you on your appointment and I am sure everything will work out fine. Honestly yes it is over whelming at first (at least it was for me) but it does get better tracking your levels and eating right. Since my appointment on Wednesday 5/17 (I just noticed I gave the wrong dates for when things happened for me, darn baby brain LOL!) I have lost 2 lbs all because of watching my sugar intake. The way my doctor described it to me is it's just like doing the South beach Diet or Atkins Diet. So if you would feel better until your next appointment, then you could just start watching your sugars. That's what I would do if I had to wait that long. Anyhow best of luck and feel free to visit that other thread I was telling you about.
