Glider Rocker

Hi--I am almost 20 weeks with my third little one, and we have finally decided to buy a glider-rocker. We have a lazy boy in our nursery and I sit in it a lot while nursing, reading books, etc. but we just want a real glider with this little one. We would like one that is a good, solid piece of furniture--not cheap, because we hope to use it in the family room later on. Anybody buy one already that they love, or any of you with more kids have a tried and true glider that you highly recommend? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

I have a dutailier glider that we bought from our local babies r us. They cost quite a bit but they are well worth the money. I have had mine for 6 years now and I will never give it up. It is going through its 3rd baby now. I do all my feeding in it. Oh and it is in my living room all the time. The only thing that I would suggest is to pick a pattern that is netural. When we first bought ours we ordered it to match our sons nursey and it is denium with stars on it. You can order replacement cushions though and we will be doing that soon. Oh and one more thing. We also have the ottoman and its nice and all but I would rather have a nursing stool. They sell them to match the chair itself. Make sure you sit in every one and take your time to find the one that you love and try both the ottoman and the stool. GL

Oh and I wanted to add that if you dont go with the color fabric that they have in the store it takes 12 weeks for a special order to come in since they come from Canada.

Thanks a lot for the response! Incidentally, the dutailier was actually the glider we have been leaning towards, so it is really nice to hear that you have had it for so long and still enjoy it. Thanks for the advice!

Oh, and what is the difference between an ottoman and a nursing stool? I have seen some pictures but I have never tried a nursing stool. Are they just more comfortable while nursing, and do they turn into a regular ottoman when not being used for nursing?

This is what I had found a long time ago about nursing. ......Nursing stools in combination with a good nursing pillow aide in positioning baby at the b___st and keep mother's from back pain. It is much better to have a stationary angled stool than to buy a more expensive gliding stool as it is important to keep the knees at a level that brings the nursing pillow and consequently the baby up and towards the b___st.............I wish I would have found this before I bought my ottoman. I would have bought a stool instead becasue I currently place my feet on the little bars on the front of the ottoman to lift the boppy pilliow to the right level with my knees.. I nursed my 2nd baby and was not able to do my 1st or 3rd but I still use the boppy pillow and position that I used while I was b___st feeding because it is more natural and comfortable for me. I think that the ottoman doesnt raise your legs up high enough if you rest them on it the way it is meant to be used..... I am sorry if this is confusing to you. I may have even just confused my self a little but I hope it helps some.

Oh and they dont turn into an ottoman while you are not nursing they are just a little wooden stool you can google nursing stool and it will show you some. I think babies r us may even sell them if not there are companies on the internet that make them to match your glider.
