How To Make The Wait Easier

I'm 38 wks along with my first baby and all of a sudden I feel so wound up and terrible! I'm sick to my stomach, my back is killing me and I've been waking up in the middle of the night for a week with bad headaches. I was hot and uncomfortable before this but basically OK.... now I feel like I'm losing my mind! I can't make it 13 more days!!! I'm absolutely falling apart and I have no clue what to do about it! How did you more experienced moms make it through the last days of your pregnancies? Was there anything special you did to make the waiting more bearable? I'm just so ready to meet my son and get labor over with and have my body back.... I feel guilty for feeling this way when I know there are lots of women out there who are OVER due, but I just can't help it. I'm frantic!!!! Any suggestions?

Im a first timer and only at appx 29 weeks, but I can relate so I wanted to send you some hugs. I feel the same way, and I have 10 weeks to go! yikes!! Do u have any pregnancy and delivery books? those help me some. NOT "what to expect when youre expecting", but other books that are written by Mds or midwives may help.... good luck kiddo.

Franki, I know EXACTLY how you are feeling. I had my 3rd beautiful baby boy in March and was so miserable that I took castor oil and it did put me into labor. The last 6 weeks are always the hardest for me. I am huge, uncomfortable, grumpy and had other children to take care of as well. Not to mention all the house work, cleaning, ect. It is hard. But, the good news is that you will not be pregnant forever, eventhough it may feel like it! What helped me was each night I would take a nice warm bath and burn essential oil, like lavender, in the bathroom. This helped to relax me and the warm water felt great. Then I would get a good book or magazine or even rent one of my favorite movies. The most important thing is to keep busy with something. If all you do is sit and think about it all day, it will only make things worse. Since this is your first, take advantage of doing some things you won't have the time to do once the baby comes. Good luck and take care.

Thanks guys! I will keep busy and maybe even read my pregnancy book again - Staci it is called "Your Pregnancy Week By Week" and it is written by a couple of doctors... you might try it :) Thanks for the support!

Places like this is my answer. This is what I do all day.... read and reply to forums. I wish I could find a good pregnancy chat. Actually, with my last pregnancy, I was online IN a pregnancy chat at 4 a.m. and had to say "see ya'll in a few days I'm off to have a baby" Was funny to be sitting there talking to all the pregos and go into labor.
