I Had My Little Bub 5 Weeks Early

I know many people here don't know me, since I got very busy and stopped posting mid-way through my pregnancy, but for those who do remember me - here's my announcement! My little boy was due on November 26th, but he decided to arrive 5 weeks early. He was born at 11:11 pm on Monday, October 22nd by c-section after 22 hours of labor. My water broke only about an hour after going to sleep Sunday night (fortunately on the way back from the toilet and NOT in bed). We went to the hospital, and we were admitted right away. They immediately did an u/s, since our little guy had been transverse for two months, and he was head down! When we arrived, I was 1 cm and 90% effaced. Unfortunately, I was still only 1 cm about 14 hours later, so they started me on Pitocin. After awhile, and after a couple increases in the Pitocin, I finally got my epidural. OMG, that was pure bliss! My progress sped up, but not quickly enough. By the time I was 8 cm, I had to go in for a c-section. My temperature had been increasing as had the baby's heart rate, and I had blood in my urine. So I went from kind of expecting a c-section to learning that the baby was head down and a va___al delivery was possible to having to have a c-section at the last minute anyway. That flip flop in circ_mstances made it quite upsetting, but in the end I really don't think it could have gone any other way. It was actually really scary, given how fast I went from L&D to surgery, but now I'm just very thankful to have my healthy, beautiful little boy. His name is Jack Liam, and though he was over a month early, he weighed 6 lbs 6 oz (2.9 kg) at birth. He was in great shape from the start (received an Apgar of 9), and as soon as I got to feed him, he latched on perfectly right away. Everyone at the hospital was amazed at how wonderfully he fed, especially since he was so early. We just came home yesterday, and he's still doing great. I never thought I'd care so much about seeing someone poop. Anyway, so there's my story! :-)

CONGRATULATIONS Lin!!!!! I have tears in my eyes for you, just rememebring how much you went through back on the SOP boards all those months ago, and now you have a healthy litt baby boy in your arms! I am so glad to hear that little Jack is doing so well, despite being early! How are you feeling? Hopefully not too sore! Well, enjoy your little guy, and congrats again!!

Thanks very much! :-) I'm recovering well, though I can't really do too much. I can walk around and do small things pretty well, but it's hard just lifting my own weight out of bed or out of the chair. So long as I don't have to move up and down too much or lift anything, I feel just fine. How're you doing DaBonk? Haven't heard from you in awhile (due to my own neglect of the boards).

LIn sorry you are sore, I totally didn't think of that....just so caught off gaurd by your post ;) Is dh able to stay home for a bit to help you out? Or do you have someone else to help you? I really still can't believe this lol! Did you post on the SOP board? Hey has your sister had her baby yet? Can't remember how far apart you 2 were. Ok i'll stop babbling for now ;)

Wow! An AGPAR score of 9 when he was so early! And I'm glad he latched on so well. I am so happy for you! And that gives ME hope! My LO is due Nov 27th, a day after your planned DD, so at least I know if he accidentally comes early at this point, he has a good chance of being perfectly healthy. Enjoy your beautiful baby boy!
