Monastat For Infection Anyone Taking It

I had my weekly appt this mrng with my midwife and I mentioned to her that I've been itching a little bit down there. And was wondering if it was some sort of infection or something else..caz it comes and goes away. She asked me about discharge, I said, well..it's been heavier..she said yeah, thats normal. You could try putting some monastat outside and a little inside and see if that helps. I thought she would do a swab or something else to detect a infection. Anyone else in same boat/got similar advice? I'm in my 37th week now and the itching started on and off I think about 4-5 weeks ago. But I kept forgetting to ask them about it in my last few appts...

I took Monistat for a yeast infection when I was pregnant. I now have a beautiful baby girl that is perfectly healthy!

Hi Nita, I had a similar problem at around the same time as you (37th week) and the doctor tested for a yeast infection but it was negative. He told me that if you experience a lot of discharge (he called it Cervical Mucus-yuck!) it can cause your Ph down there to act wacky and cause itching on and off.....he also said to use soap that is for sensitive skin which will help if the itchy-ness is caused by irritation.

Oh and I did use the external creme from the Monastat medication for the itching and I found it just irritated it more. Mine went away after like 2 days.

Hello Nita_ I have had a horrible time with discharge through out my whole prengnacy and have used monistat when itching starts use a q-tip and swab on the outside and a little bit inside it has worked great for me.
