Protein In Urine

Hi! I am almost 39 weeks pregnant and at my appt. on Thurs I had protein in my urine sample and my blood pressure was raised a little. I have another appointment on Monday to check on it and he said if it's still high we'll have to induce. Just wondering if you can have protein found at one appointment and then not the next. My blood pressure was 139/90 on Thursday and yesterday was 144/83, so we'll see. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen? Thanks for any advice!!

Hey Lanislee! I will be 39 wks this Thursday. At my 37 week appt. they found protein in my urine (after I pee'd in the cup of course), so they did a cathater test right then. She said this was necessary to get urine directly from the bladder because protein can get in your urine in your v____al discharge (this is why peeing in the cup isn't as accurate). After they did the cathater it came back negative for protein. This might be too much info, but dh and I had just had s_x the night before (really late), so maybe the protein could come from his ejaculate? This is my theory anyway. My bp was slightly elevated at that appt. (for me) 120/80. Compared to my usual, that was high. At my 38 wk. appt. there was no protein (I made sure we did not have s_x before the appt, because I didn't want to have to go through getting a cathater again...LOL), and my bp was back to normal 110/68. So, I guess it can happen, but it IS best to be monitored if it's found, because it can be dangerous. Hope this helped some, and good luck to you! Oh, and your bp does sound a little high. They said they would be concerned if the botom number rose over 80......take it easy, hope all goes well!
