Protein In Urine Any Advice

Hello Ladies! I had to do a 24 hour urine test and I talked to the nurse today about the results.....she said there was a moderate amount of protein in m urine but not enough for them to worry about taking the baby early. Why aren't they worried about it? Also, I have a very strong smell to my urine, does anyone know what this might mean? Any advice please!!!

Protein in the urine is not a huge concern - sometimes it is present simply because you aren;t drinking enough. It is the same for the smell.Drink lots of fluids and if you still find it smells strong see your doctor as it could be a sign of a urine infection. The only time protein needs to be of a worry is if there is large amount in the urine along with a high BP or/and swelling in hands, feet, face.

If you had an infection, that would have been found with the 24hr urine.. they do a complete urinalysis on the urine. I agree, urine that has a strong smell is often related to being concentrated.. it's probably on the darker side in color as well, drink more water and it will be fine. As for the protein.. 110g of protein and less are considered "normal" levels.

Thank you for your answers! I actually went into labor and delivery Saturday because I was not feeling well and my blood pressure was higher than normal. 146/94....I think, but it eventually started to go down. That's why they did the urine test. Do you think everything will be ok?
