I was cleaning today when all of a sudden I felt extrememly wet....I know this is tmi, but I was wearing pj pants with no panties because I hate wearing them to bed and even the crotch of my pants was wet which I thought was odd because the crotch was hanging down far from where the liquid was coming from....anyway, I went to the bathroom and wiped and there was a lot of clearish liquid that was tinted pink and brown...I called my doc and I have to go in, but I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before?? Im too nervous to wait for the doc! I've also been having increasing bh contractions and some mild cramps with sharp shooting pains in the groin area.

kristyn, when are you do?

kristyn1028 - October 19

Jan 11- Im 28 weeks...sorry forgot to add that!

oh boy, not sure then, hopefully it was just urine. Did you happen to smell it? I know that sounds gross, but if it were fluid it would smell kind of sweet. Let me know what the dr. says. Good luck.

kristyn1028 - October 19

Yea, lol, I did smell it. I had read before about the difference between urine and fluid because I've had this before, just never worried about it. Its definetely not urine. It had a sweet smell...that sounds soo gross..ha. I try not to worry about anything because I don't want to be a pest to the doc but that alarmed me....and then pink brown that was mixed with it didn't make me feel better....i guess we'll see what he says..I still have to wait two hours though.

I can't believe that they are going to make you wait that long. It sounds like fluid to me. Is this your first pregnancy? Where do you live? I am almost 37 weeks with my second and WISH my water would break. I had my first at almost 37 weeks.

It is my first. Do you know what leaking the fluid is like?? Is it constant or does it come and go?? I live in Indiana, Boonville...its a really small hick town..haha I hope its not fluid leaking though..this is kinda early to be having a baby...

You're right, it is very early, that is why i can't believe that they are allowing you to wait that long b/c it sounds to me like it isn't urine, but i'm no dr. I think that if it were me at 28 wks my dr. would have sent me to labor and delivery to be checked. That is why I asked where you lived. I am in PA, but on the border of NY and i know that certain places do things different. I will pray that it wasn't fluid. Keep me updated.

kristyn, how did it go at the doctor's? hopefully everything is ok. i will keep checking back. make sure to write when you are able!

kristyn1028 - October 20

So all is well! Yay! He checked for amnio fluid and it was negative...said he saw the bloody stuff but never really said if that was ok or not... Im having preterm contractions, but my cervix is tightly closed!! So everythings great! Thanks for your concern ladies!

Kristyn, be carefula s that isn;t normal. As for the amniotic fluid sticks - they pick up fore waters not hind so if it was the back waters going then it could be a sign you are in labour. A friend of mine kept having those sticks come back negative and it was only because she tortured the doctor that she was losing fluid they did a scan and she was down to 3cms of water and they had to deliver the baby straight away. Waters gonig can come and go as slight trickles - it doesn't have to be a sudden gush so keep an eye on it. The fact it was bloody can signal other problems. Pink can show new bleeds, brown old bleeds. It is not good and I am surprised he didn't keep you in. I don;t want to panic you but it can be a sign of placenta previa or abruption. Did he say anything about the position of the placenta in terms of baby? Rest and take it easy but if you get it again go straight to the hospital. I can't believe he left you sitting so long.

kristyn1028 - October 20

No he didn't say anything about the placenta....The only thing he did was that strip test and then sent me home.... I thought it was odd he didn't test for anything else.

if this happens again make your doctor get a sample and look under the microscope with it-- this is the only way they can tell 100% if it's your water!!!!!!!! I was walking around with my water breaking in spurts for days and was sent home from the hospital when those stupid strips tested negative-- luckily--- my doctor finally took a sample and looked at it under the microscope and confirmed it was my water!!! There is a clear pattern that your amnio fluid makes and nothing else makes it. Oh, and my water was the hind waters so it went in spurts- like when I would bend down and open the dryer door. I did not get the movie style 'gush' because it was my hind waters not my fore waters. To explain: instead of the leak coming from the bottom of your sack it comes from the top or back of the sack. That is why it comes out in spurts.
