Restless Legs Anyone

If you have this or have experienced this then you know what it's like. I have had it EVERY SINGLE NIGHT for about 1 1/2 months now. It is driving me nuts!! I am getting no sleep at all. It starts up as soon as I am lounging in my bed, say after about 30 minutes. If I try to take a simple nap I can't because it either starts acting up or I wake up because of it. The only thing that helps is if I get up and walk around and not lay in my bed until im a zombie. Then maybe I can fall asleep fast enough to not really be affected by it. I've had this problem since I was a child but it would only come for maybe 2-3 days, once a month or every other month. And since I got pregnant it has become a daily issue. I read it gets worse in the 3rd trimester. I hope it goes away when my son is born cuz this is driving me insane. I feel like an insomniac, not being able to just doze off comfortably, or watch a movie. GRRRRRRRRRRR

I know exactly how you feel. Mine starts as soon as I sit down at the end of the day, and wakes me up through the night. I guess it must go away once the baby arrives? But it certainly isn't nice not being able to sleep!

I've also had the same problem since I was a child, but it has really gotten bad since becoming pg. I found that heat helps. I have one of those things you can pop in the microwave (it's filled with some kind of grain) and it seems to help a lot. You can usually find them at any drugstore. Mine is called a bed buddy, and it kind of looks like a sock with two rope circle handles on each end. You might want to give it a try.

hi krc, I have also had RLS syndrome since I was a child and now my son has it. In any event, it has progressed horrible this pregnancy and sorry to tell you dear for me yes the third trimester about killed me. I lay and moan and ache every night. The heat made mine worse. I need my legs cool and then I feel better, so maybe everyone is different you will have to try both and see what happens. I talked with my doc. about it and he said when it gets really bad to take tylenol pm , as it will help the pain and also put you to sleep. I do not give in and take it till it's real bad. Although, last night after 3 hours of laying there I gave in and took one. Gosh, I don't know what I would do without them. Oh, also I found if I go for a long walk at night come home take a shower and go to bed , it helps alot too. Good luck and I do feel your pain. I sometimes feel like I just want to stretch them so far out , it helps a little. Good luck. Oh, and believe me your not alone I get up and walk around the room and stretch and back to bed, then again and again.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh- I can totally relate. I've had it AGAIN since the beginning of my third trimester and it's hell on earth. I find taking a hot bath can give me about 20 minutes of peace, sometimes long enough to fall asleep...sometimes I end up taking 4-5 baths a night and never end up falling asleep. I've heard it could be a lack of calcium or iron, but I haven't been able to prove that. I've tried walking for hours, swimming for hours, trying to tire out my leggs, I've made my poor husband ma__sage my legs and feet to no end...nothing works... I'm just praying to god that this eases up once the baby is born or else I'm going to be one seriously cranky insomniac.

it's amazing how something such as RLS can affect us the way it does. Sometimes mine gets so bad it affects my arms as well. That is what they call PLMD or periodic limb movement disorder. I've read they think it is linked to being neurological but they really have no clue. When I get the RLS it seems to me that I get urges to put my feet on a cold surface and my legs have to be uncovered. I wonder if I keep a bucket of cold water by my bed so I can dip my feet in them will make a difference. Last night I was up every 20-45 minutes. I'd get p and briefly pace the room, go to the kitchen , or pester my cats. But it starts as soon as I lay down again. This really is madness !!!!! Now.....even when im taking a 15 minute sit down break at work it starts up. I couldn't imagine having it on a regular basis after my baby is born. I think I would lose my mind. I really miss being able to doze off or watch a movie with peace !!! I wish I had a pool, i'd probably be swimming alot at night !!
