what are the chances of your water bag breaking while trying to shift a breach baby

I just found out today (37 wks, 4 dys) that my baby is breech and already over 9 pounds. My doctor told me that turning him is not an option because my fluid is normal and he is too large. I will have to have a c-section. I am really upset because with my last pregnancy I delivered in 23 minutes and was out shopping the day I came home.

I heard that the chances are high for your water break during an external version. I had an unsuccessful external version three years ago at 40 weeks (with a 10 pound baby!), and they told me that I would be having the baby that day regardless because if they were able to turn her, my water would probably break. And if they couldn't turn her, I would have a c-section.

Dr's are often wrong about the size of babies. I've heard of a woman getting induced because the Dr. claimed the baby was big and the babe's were only 6 lbs.

The more people I talk to the more concerned I am about the weight. I certainly don't want a c-section, especially if I don't need one. I called my doctor san they said that ultrasounds are usually 1 pound off either way. Doesn't make me feel any better. I really don't know what to do. They have scheduled me for Oct 21st.
