Silly Question

This may sound silly, but with all the talk about dizziness and light-headeness, etc...is it possible or does it ever happen, that when labor starts, because of the pain and everything going on, that you can actually faint of pass out? I've worried about that and don't know if that actually happens...

not that I've ever heard of and it didn't happen to me. The pain is not an intense kind of pain that would put you into shock or anything.

LOL... my good friend from college asked me this. I had two kids already when she had her first. She was seriously worried about it because she has an amazingly low pain tolerance and she fainted 3 times just from period cramps when I was in the dorm room with her back when we were in college LOL!!! Anyway, she actually had 2 all natural deliveries and is expcting her 3rd any day now. She's the type that has like 3 hour labors (first ctxn to the birth)... I guess that's a really good thing for her :-D Oh, and she has managed not to faint so far haha!

I actually knew someone who fainted during labor, but it was so short and I guess it was no big deal.

Thanks everyone :) I have a high threshold for pain and my mom and her mom both had quick deliveries so I'm hoping for the same. I only wondered because I have blood sugar levels that get thrown off and make me lightheaded sometimes. Thought that all the changes going on with labor and contractions that it could be worse where you might black out or pa__s out. I'm sure it will be fine.
