Hope all is well with everyone!! I have been reading the posts and am coming across a STREP test...what is this? I am 33w today and my doc hasn't mentioned it (which isn't a surprise, I don't know anything from them until I get there) !! When is it done and how is it done and why? Thanks for any feedback...

It's a test for group b strep, which I guess is a bacteria that our bodies have from time to time. If you have it when you deliver you can pa__s it to baby. You usually get tested during your last month, I had mine at 36 weeks. If you are positive you will get antibiotics at the time of delivery. It is very routine. Don't worry about it!

I had mine at 35 weeks, I think it's standard around 35-36 weeks. They just take a long q-tip and swab the inside of your v____a and around your bottom, really quick and painless.

I just found out that I'm positive for Strep B - apparently they tested at my first appointment and it showed +++ so I'll be getting Penicilin during labor. I read that 10-30% of women are positive for it, and if given the antibiotics the chance that you pa__s it to your baby is 1 in 4000 as opposed to 2-3 in 200 if you do not get antibiotics.

what can it do to your baby if you have it and it's not treated? I had blood and urine tests done at the beginning of my pregnancy that showed possible contamination of strep b, so i hope they don't have to swab me. I'm not comfortable with anything in that area lately, lol.
