I'm 32 weeks, and have stretch marks on my sides of belly, and sides of thighs. They are not big and thick, they are thing and stringy. Like someone drew squiggles with a light-purplish pink sharpie. Does anyone share this description? Also, speaking from EXPERIENCE...being as far along as 32 weeks, and not having a trace of stretch marks on the front of my belly...do you think I'll stick have them pop up last minute?? Thanks =)

Well Maddie it is possible they could still appear during your last 8 weeks, afterall you still have more growing to do (believe it or not). I got my stretch marks with my first born and I have them on the front and sides of my thighs, hips and tummy. None in the back. I did not get any new ones and I'm on my fourth. Every woman's body differs due to her ethniticity, as well as elasticity. Being that you still have 8 more weeks and already have some, you are likely to get more.

Kymmi is right...and elasticity of skin is different on different areas of your body. I'm almost 39 weeks and I don't have any stretch marks on my tummy. During puberty, however, I got stretch marks on my thighs...So, I'm guessing that the skin on my abdomen is much more elastic...I've always had a flat six-pack waist too..so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

I AM 28 WEEKS AND I DON'T HAVE ANY SO FAR. WITH MY FIRST PREGNANCY I GOT THEM ON MY BOOBS AND ON MY BUTT AND I GOT VERY LUCKY BECAUSE THE ALL FADED ON THEIR ON AND YOU CANT SEE THEM ANYMORE. I THINK I WILL END UP GETTING THEM ON MY BELLY THIS TIME BECAUSE I AM GAINING MORE WEIGHT WITH THIS PREGNANCY.

I did not develop any stretch marks until about 30 weeks. At that point I got them on my thighs, and my sides at my hips - just little ones. They got a little bit darker and bigger as the days went on. I am now 35 weeks and just in the past few days I have started noticing them on my belly below my belly b___ton, I am sure they will continue to develop in that area as the baby drops and stretches that skin more. I hope you have better luck than me! Best wishes!

Hey there girls. After reading some of your responses / questions, I couldn't help but responding again. I just wanted to say that unfortunately once you get stretch marks there is little to nothing you can do to make them go away. The good news is they do fade in color and size, but they never truly go away. Just use LOTS of creams now to help prevent them from worsening,,,,, but ultimately, there is absolutely nothing you can do to prevent them. If you are gonna get them, you are gonna get them. If you are one of the lucky few who don't,,,, congratulations!! But all in all, as embara__sing as they are, try to remember WHY you have them. That is so much more important than having them. Just look at it as "war marks". That is what I call them. No man could EVER go thru what we (as women) must go thru and to be able to a__sist God in creating a miracle,,,,,,, there is no greater joy. So don't concentrate on something as trivial as your stretchmarks. If your man truly loves you, he will overlook them and appreciate the miracle you brought into this world instead!

Kymmi - Good point. War marks...I like that I think I'll use "battle scars" too

I think women as well as men need to realize that bringing a child into this world is a very beautiful thing...our society is so into the "perfect" body image, that we don't appreciate what other countries highly appreciate...which is life. In many countries in Africa, pregnant women are looked upon as sacred and divine because of their ability to carry life! Of course we all care about how we look, and we should take pride in that...but we should take more pride in teaching ourselves and raising our children to inwardly strive for perfection!

They say stretch marks are inherrited. Well I have them all over my lower abdomine, thighs, hips, b___sts, and my mother and grandmother never got them. I guess I owe it all to my father. Thanks dad.

I've always used vitimin E capsules and pop em open, Vitimin E helps reduce the appenee of scars

Maddie - April 28

That's a great idea Jill. Do you just rub the oil on your "hazrd" areas?? Also, what about aloe? My uncle swears by it for scars....I wonder if it would work on stretch marks...

Info - April 28

Vitamin K is a good source to combat stretch marks or other scars. It can be applied as a cream but consult your physician before applying. Major food sources for Vitamin K include green leafy vegetables, such as spinach, green cabbage, turnip greens, broccoli, tomatoes, liver and lean meats and dairy products. Putting Lavender oil directly on scars will help them fade.

All I have to say is Cocoa B___ter is a hoax! I used the concentrated cocoa b___ter cream formulated for pregnant women and my ENTIRE STOMACH IS COVERED IN STRETCH MARKS. They bothered me when they first started appearing, now I could care less. Im just greatful they dont itch anymore!!

patty - May 4

Everyone is definatley different. Im on my second child and am 33 weeks. I used cheap vitamin E cream my first pregnancy and got NO stretch marks. This time ive been using palmers cocoa b___ter and have no sign of stretchmarks. Some women are just prone to get them. Being that Im only 25 years old I did not want stretch marks! My advice to girls who want to try to prevent them- use a cream vitamin E or whatever, you just have to be consistant. I apply lotion EVERYNIGHT, and im not cheap about it, Ive been doing it since about 10 weeks and will keep doing it until 40 weeks. I think if you can be consistant, you can reduce the risk of getting them. Also making sure you dont gain to much weight during pregnancy helps. Ive also heard that vitamin E oil will reduce the appearence of scars. Good luck everyone, I hope my expeirences will help someone, I hear stretchmarks can be quite painful and itchy.
