Some call this sc__ping, some say stripping.... but has anyone done it? Did it get your labor going? i've been having contractions since Saturday but i'm not dialating.... so tomorrow at my appointment, i'm gonna have them strip my membranes. i really can't take this early labor for days on end c__p!!!!!!!!!!!

I was 39 weeks pregnant with my first child and my midwife stripped my membranes. The procedure itself is no more uncomfortable than an internal exam, but result usually come fast. I gave birth the next day. However, I have heard other people having the procedure done and not going into active labor until a week later. Heres hoping your experience is like mine, contractions are definately no fun....

no..... i'm 37 weeks..... but at the docs here, they'll do it that early! i was 50% effaced last Wednesday, so i'm hoping they'll say i'm "ripe" enough to do it!

Alexi I havent had this done, but I thought that you had to be atleast 2cm dialated for the dr. to even do the procedure? You stated that you aren't dialating but are effaced? Im confused.

I was also told that I have to be at least 2cm dialated to have my membranes stripped. Last week I was 1cm dilated. Tomorrow I go in again.

i've been dialated to 2 cm for over a week now! Sorry... i meant to say that the contractions weren't making me dialate anymore.
