Is it normal in the 3rd trimester for your stomache to feel very hard all the time, like it is a constant contraction, or is it just the baby i am feeling that is so hard against my stomach ?!

I am 31 wks this week, my stomach is tight a lot. My b/f will even comment when he touches it that its "tight". More often than not, but if I'm paying attn. I can still find moments when its not. So perhaps its normal? I get to go to my dr. soon, and I have lots of questions =o).

My doctor told me I could be starting to contract and sometimes it could be the baby repositioning herself. He said If I have more than 6 in a hour and they start getting really uncomfortable to call him. If start having 2 or more lay down and start drinking a lot of water.

You are probably having Braxton Hicks Contractions which I thought only happened right before labour begins, but in fact it can start as early as 20 weeks. They are nothing to worry about as long as they don't hurt. This is just your uterus "shaping up" for labour. Mine usually happen just after I've gone pee or when I am walking around a lot. Hope that helps...

I have these too, and my husband makes comments about how "tight" my stomach feels sometimes. I am not sure if they are contractions, or the baby balling up and pressing outward. Good question!
