Traveling At 36 Weeks

I have to RSVP for a family event that is on 3/25 and I'm due on 4/25--it's about 3 or 4 hours from home (and our hospital). We'll be staying overnight. I'm concerned because i've been on rest for high blood pressue (although no pre-eclampsia), which I know could mean I could deliver early. Any suggestions? It's a big deal, but I'm sure people would understand if we responded with a "no"--just wondering if people thought it would be safe to take the trip.

I dont blame you for being worried about leaving town at 36 weeks. My husbands parents wanted us to go to disney world with the rest of his family for 4 nights, at a point when I will be 34 weeks pregnant. even though I am not too worried about giving birth that early, my whole issue was the whole all-day traveling, then all the walking around at disney (this is end of April, which means it will be hot in florida), and just how tired I'm sure I will be, along with the swollen ankles, peaing every 15 min, etc. I did not think it was the best time to pick for a family vacation that far away from where I live (which is half way across the country). I talked to my husband, and he understood. We told them we did not think we could make it. they were OK with that. You can always talk to your doctor about it, and see what he/she says. If you are uncomforitable with it.....just dont go. Better safe than sorry. hope this helps a little.

I think it depends on how comfortable you feel and what your Doctor thinks. I would definetly check in with him/her. If you do go, make sure to stop every hour and so and walk around a bit. It's important not to sit for long periods of time. You know what is best for you. If you go - enjoy yourself!
