I have been bleeding this week. The color are dull red sometimes brighter with a gloss(like discharge). It has been happening on and off throughout my pregnancy. Any idea on what it is??? I never had any infections before could this be one??

I am going to a__sume that you've brought this up to your doctor already; any bleeding during pregnancy is cause for concern...if anything, to at least have it checked out. Around my 30th week I had a short bout of light pink on the TP after using the bathroom; come to find out it was due to the intercourse I'd had with my husband the night before in combination with a softened cervix...the hysterical part was that I was the first one to mention this to my doctor (i.e. the possibility that it was linked to intercourse and a changing cervix), and my doctor replied, "Wow, I didn't even think to ask you about that!" So if anything, here's one aspect you can check and rule out if it's applicable. In the infamous words of my mother, "Honey, you can let your husband climb the ladder, he just can't go all the way to the top right now!" God love her...:)

Nancy, do you know at what position is your placenta? Also, do you find mucus on your discharge? Erica what did your doctor told you for softened cervix? are you dilated..did he prefered you more rest or anything else..please reply

Hi, Mimi! The doctor didn't see a softened cervix as a cause for concern, since it changes throughout the pregnancy as a result of the horomonal flood...it's just softer/more sensitive now as a result of pregnancy than it was pre-prego. The only precaution the doc had me take was "pelvic rest" for a few days - and to be mindful of the positions utilized the next time hubby and I got intimate, as some positions can penetrate deeper than others and thus irritate the cervix. Oh yeah; and if I was dilated, I wouldn't know it, as my doc doesn't do internals in the last months of pregnancy unless something unusual pops up...but I can't say I'm not curious, though! ;)

Thanks a lot Erica!!!! I was so concerned. How they diagnosed your softened cervix if they didn;t do v____al exams? i mean how they concluded that you your cervix is softening?!!!!!

A softened cervix doesn't necessarily need a v____al exam to be diagnosed as such; it's one of those things that's a "given" with pregnancy due to the horomonal changes and the increased blood flow to that area of the body...every pregnant lady has that softening to some degree and it's just one of the many crazy changes going on! :)

I THINK YOU MAY HAVE A YEAST INFECTION, IF IT BURNS OR ITCHES SOMETIMES WHEN YOU SCRATCH IT YOU MADE IT START BLEEDING, IF IT DOESN'T STOP BLEEDING , CONSULT WITH YOUR DOCOTR. GOOD LUCK!
