I went to the doctor's this past week, and they said they needed to do a va___al culture.. but then when he was just about to preform the test he said "Oh by the way, it's a rectol too." Nice, huh? Anyways has anyone gotten this done and what exactly is a culture?

Sounds like he did the test to check for Streph B. It's done around 36 weeks to check for bacteria in those areas that could harm the baby during delivery. If you have it, they will give you antibodics during your labor to prevent the baby from getting it. It's perfectly normal to have done.

I had the Streph B test a few weeks ago. It does sound like the way they did yours was a little invasive. I was given a swab (like a cotton stick but longer) and just asked to go to the bathroom and perform it myself- only v____al though. So I took a sample and put it in the tube and then gave it back to the midwife. I'm having all my appointments at a birth centre though and they are very 'female friendly'. I think in some places they don't consider the womens feelings too much- not nice having someone putting something in your a__s and also uneccessary. Anyway what's done is done now.....I hope you're ok. I guess it's just the way your doctor does it :-)

I have heard of drs checking for undetected hemroids before delivery to be proactive about treating them so they are not a problem during delivery. Maybe that is what is was for???

Thanks for the info. It was just startling, because they had told me about the test the week before and never mentioned the a___l part. I wanted to kill them. Thanks.
