Hello Ladies! I am due.....actually one month today July 15th with my first baby. I have gained 50 lbs, I am only 5''3 and weighed around 120lbs pre-pregnancy. I was just wondering if its really hard to shed those pounds after the babys born? I plan on br___tfeeding which I know helps but how long am I going to be looking at this extra weight for? I know its different for each women but realistically 3-5 months? I'm getting married August 2007 so my goal is to be back around my original weight for then! If you could give me some insight I'd appreciate it! Oh and those of you who got strech marks, did they fade or even go away completely after you gave birth? I have them on my butt and theighs, I used cocoa butter throughtout my pregnancy and I started applying Vit E oil on them tiwce a day...its suppose to help?? Thankx for the insight ladies!

Victoria, with my first baby I started at about 135-140 and I'm 5"6.I gained about 50lbs with him.For me the weight dropped off instantly, the only thing I did was stomach crunches about 4 wks after giving birth and no other exercise.Within about 2-3 months I was in better shape than before I got pregnant. My stomach was rock hard and everybody said that I didn't even look like I'd had a baby,I had also dropped an extra 10 lbs. I know that everyone is different, so u never know how your body will react to being pregnant.Just remember that it is not impossible to lose the weight.Just try to watch what u eat and get in some exercise.Good Luck.

hey victoria! This is my first pregnancy too, and I have gained 35lbs (now 41 weeks)....so I think at this point my gain is over. I think the weight can come off pretty easily as long as you dont let youself overeat and never exercise after giving birth. Most of the weight will drop off after having the baby with little effort (the water weight, blood volume increase, baby and placenta coming out, etc). The remaining part that was gained as fat will have to take a bit of time, but as long as you eat reasonably and walk some......I doubt you will have a problem.

Thankx Ladies...I'm Hoping it doesn't take too long to take the weight off! I guess I'll have to wait and see! What about strech marks?

I can't really help you with your question as I am a first time mom also, my mom gained 50 lbs with my brothers and literally dropped it right away, I haven't gained that much, guess I have my dads motabolism or something. And the stretch mark thing really worries me too, I haven't gotten any on my tummy or back, but my b___t is horrible and I'm starting to get some on my thighs, hope they don't get too bad. Just noticed that our due dates are real close, mine is also the 15th by LMP, but by u/s's it is the 22nd. How are things going with your pregnancy, just thought it would be nice to chat with someone in the same time period as me, what are you having? I am 20 and I am having a little girl

I think it really depends on the person. Some people loose weight faster then others. I was 115 pre-pregnancy with my first, height 5'4''. I gained about 50 pounds by the time I had her. I took dance four times a week and walked about a mile and a half 4 nights a week. I didn't b___stfeed though. It took me about 9 months to loose 35 pounds. The first 20 was the easiest for me. That only took a couple of weeks. Once I got past that I reached a point where i couldn't loose anymore. I struggled and got really frustrated. Then after about two months I finally lost another 10 pounds. The remaining 5 pounds took me about 6 months. I never got back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I started this pregnancy 10 pounds heavier, three years after my first. My body never looked the same either. I can't get rid of this little pouch in my belly and I have little love handles now too. I am planning on b___stfeeding this time around in hopes that that will make all the difference. Good luck to you.

Thankx for all the input ladies! Atarahsmommy- I agree about chatting with someone due around the same time.. I am also 20 years old. Things are going pretty well, I am having a little girl aswell and we decided to call her Hailey Elizabeth....it was litterally the only name we agreed one, we couldn't even think of a boys name...funny how that works! Shes been head down for the past coulpe of weeks now, I keep getting period like cramping which the doctor says is her moving further down. I don't know about you but I am so ready to have this baby! I just want to see and hold her and take care of her....from the outside!!!LOL I havent had an u/s since 24 weeks and that was a 3D one so it wasn't for medical purposes. I really wanna get an estimate how how big she is, they say that usually a baby is around the same birth weight as you, my fiance and I were both 7lbs...so I'm hoping she'll be around the same. I hear you about the strech marks on the b___t....I HATE THEM! I'm using Vit E oil, its suppose to help...it's starting working, making them less visiable, I'll let you know how it works out for me! I'm hoping I lose my pregnancy weight fast! I want to be in tip top shape for my wedding next year, but I'm sure running after around looking after a little one will help! So hows your pregnancy going? Everything going as you had hoped? Has anyone thought about birth control for after the babys born? I'm alittle unsure of what to use...I was on the pill before...and got pregnant on it! So I dunno

Hi Ladies, thought i'd b___t in! I'm a first time mum too, expecting our little one on the 23rd june although i feel like im due now! babys been head down and 3/5 engaged for 2 weeks and i was 2cm dilated last week, i wish she'd hurry!! I have gained a stone give/take a pound or two, all the way through everyones been like 'ooh your baby must be tiny' and then i had an ultrasound 4 days ago and she's estimated at 8 lbs!!!! I'm hoping i'll lose a bit extra too when she's born, as for stretch marks i have few on my tummy which i'm hoping will fade. Good luck ladies!

Thats so funny, thats the middle name we picked too, her name is going to be Atarah Elizabeth. We met at a church convention in the town of Elizabeth and it just sounds good together, so it was perfect. We had a boys name, but I don't know if I even like it or not anymore, so I don't think we would have used it, but we're having a little girl so YAY! She's been head down since at least my 32 weeks app, 3 1/2 weeks ago, but I'm pretty sure she was at least a few weeks before that. I've been getting the period like cramping too, It just started so I didn't ask the doctor about it, but I just figured it was her putting pressure down there, good to know its nothing to worry about, as much as I can't wait to see her, I don't want her coming out just yet, she's still got some growing to do. I haven't had an u/s since 18 weeks so I haven't seen her in a while and I don't think I get another one, guess I have to be patient for another 5 weeks, but everything is going well no complications and not too many discomforts really, so I guess I don't have much to complain about. I wasn't on BC before, I wanted a baby and it took me 9 months to get pregnant and stay that way after I was married, although it felt like a whole lot longer then that. I'm not using anything after either, I believe that I'll have another baby when I am supposed to (but I sort of hope that I can't get pregnant while b___st feeding, some people can some can't) a little space would be nice, but I'm willing for whatever I get, it'll be a blessing either way. louise_J-thats exciting, you'll have to keep us posted and let us know when you have your little one, not too much longer at all and then you'll be saved from the heat, unlike us, we still another month to go and its just going to get hotter, yuck.

I gained 50 lbs with my first baby and lost about 30 pounds almost instantaneously. I could not shed those final pounds until I stopped b___stfeeding, and I b___stfed her for 12 months. I am one of those people who did NOT lose weight from b___stfeeding. My 2nd baby is 6 months old. I gained 60 pounds with this recent pregnancy (UGH!) and have so far lost 40. I stopped b___stfeeding him when he was 12 weeks old, but this weight is not coming off as easily as the first time. I guess it's different for each person and different for each pregnancy. If you have a big goal date in mind (your wedding), that will keep you focused and motivated to do the diet and exercise needed. Good luck!
