Worried Hope I Didn T Hurt Him

I'm 31 weeks pregnant and had the scariest experience tonight. I live in central Illinois and we were hit really hard by severe storms a few hours ago. We live on a completely wooded lot in a two story house with no basement. Most of our living space is on the 2nd story and both up and downstairs are surrounded by sliding doors and big windows. Needless to say it's not safe in a tornado. My mom called to let me know that several of the surrounding towns have been hit by tornados and have damage. It was getting grey outside, but not really anything to worry about. I turned on the weather and was chatting with her. Then I got up and walked over to the slidding door. It was getting darker, but still no rain. Then I started hearing wind quickly getting louder. All of a sudden it started pouring down rain. I shut the slidding door and started across the room to shut the windows. Right then I heard the roar. I looked out the window just in time to see a full size mature tree being blown over like a twig. I litterally hung up on my mom and started running downstairs. I met my husband halfway as he was running up to get me. We got to the garage and decided we needed to get to the neigbors house (which has a basement). So we just ran full speed to the neighbor's. I probably should have stayed here, as we only had minimal damage, but at the time we didn't know what was happening. I'm not normally a runner, and especially not now that I'm 31 weeks pregnant! I'm worried that I could have hurt the baby running over to the neighbor's. What do you guys think? Do you know if that would do any harm?

that wouldnt have hurt the baby at all. DOnt worry so much. your fine. Your not feeling any cramping or anything un usual right?

for probably the next hour I had a lot of braxton hicks contractions, and he hasn't been very active this evening (although he has moved some). I know I probably do worry too much, but I would just feel better if someone knew for sure that it was ok.....

It sounds like you really didn't have any other option! You did what anyone would've done - go to a safe place! For you and your baby - I would just take it easy for the next few days, and I'm sure you'll be fine.

I used to wonder the same thing when I was still enthusiatically running and jumping around... when I still COULD. lol Now, even at 37 and 1/2 weeks, when I lean over too far or really have to make an effort at standing up, I'm worried I'm squishing his little head (he's head down). I haven't had any cramping or bleeding or strangeness, so it's just normal worry from being a good mommy.

I used to get a lot of braxton hicks when I would get nervous or stressed out. So just try to relax, you and baby should be fine.

you just described one of my worst nightmares! I am sure the baby is just fine. Lots of moms excersise during pregnancy, and it is ok. Thankfully you guys made safety1 hugs**
