My DS Will Not Play By Himself

I may have asked this before, I can't remember. But every day is a battle at my house, and I'm sooo frustrated. My son is now 19 months old, goes to daycare in the morning, and I pick him up by about 2:00 every day (I work part time). After we get home, even if I spend lots of one-on-one time with him, (I'm talking 2 hours straight doing whatever he wants to do) and then I try to do any type of housework, he won't play by himself! It's a constant hanging on my leg, crying, whining, etc. Talk about stressful. It angers me because I don't feel I should have to wait until he goes to bed every night before I get anything done. Many times my husband even waits until after ds goes to bed before he even eats supper!! Am I crazy to think he should be a little more independent by now?? Why is it so hard for him to play in the same room with me while I vacuum, cook supper, etc.??

Still feel the same way, my kids are 4.5 and almost 3. I secretly wish they would go to school already!!! lol Not that they are hanging on my leg, but they do need my presence and some involvement always. I do feel that I have to steal 30 min to 1 hour at a time for any job around here!!! I suppose they will need their mommy all the same when they are 7, 10, 15 or 18. So we are in this for a long run! lol
