2 Sacs W 1 Heartbeat At 6w1d Is Twins Still Possible

We had a sono today at 6w1d and we saw two gestational sacs, 2 yolk sacs, 1 heartbeat. The gestational sac without the heartbeat is smaller than the one with the heartbeat. Is it possible for the smaller sac to still be viable? Did this happen to anyone else with multiples?

YES!!! It is very possible. 6 weeks is still early. I have seen a hb "appear" in an empty sac up to 7w and some days. After 8 weeks if there is no cardiac activity the sac will usually disappear.

twins4us - thank you so much for your response. i've been research this all week, and everything that I find points 6wks being too early to always detect a heartbeat.
