I AM MARRIED AND ME AND MY HUSBAND WOULD LIKE MULTIPLES. THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST PREGNANCY. WE BROUGHT CLOMID OVER THE INTERNET. WE DONT HAVE ANY TROUBLE GETTING PREGNANT BUT NEITHER ONE OF US HAVE THE "TWIN GENE" MY QUESTION IS DO YOU THINK CLOMID WOULD HARM ME PHYSICAL IF I AM NOT PRESCRIBED IT? WILL IT HARM THE BABIES? DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A PERON THAT HAS TAKEN CLOMID ON THERE OWN FREE WILL?

You'll end up hearing both sides of the story here. I knew a woman that took it and had such a bad reaction to it she had to have one of her ovaries removed. The thing with this medicine is it stimulates your ovaries and if your ovaries are working fine, then you risk overstimulation which is a bad thing. I wouldn't use it if you can already make babies without it because...well...it's just me I guess. I just don't agree with taking Clomid just for the novelty of possibly having twins. Considering it only raises your chances by maybe 7%, it's not worth the risk.

You need to be monitored via ultrasound during clomid use. I was under the care of a Reproductive Endocrinologist and was on 50mg Clomid days 5-9. I had 5 mature follicles on day of IUI and was in a lot of pain when I ovulated. Also, after ovulation, if the egg in the follicle does not ovulate, it will turn into a cyst. Sonograms are done to detect this. I was on clomid because my endometrium lining was not building enough thickness to support a pregnancy. I had no problems ovulating on my own, which is probably why I had so many follicles on such a low dosage.
