FMS Meds Amp Pregnancy

C.W. - March 7

My husband and I want to get pregnant. I have fibromyalgia and am on several meds to deal with the symptoms: duragesic patch (fentanyl- synthetic morphine) that i wear all the time, changing it every 48 hours, lortab, effexor, synthroid, wellbutrin, skelaxin, allegra, flonase and acyclovir. How long can i stay on my meds? I've heard i should be off long before even trying, but for me the longer i can stay on my meds- the better.

Wow! That's quite a list of medications. You definately need to be consulting with a Dr. before you try to get pregnant. I would suggest getting a referal to a perinatologist (high risk pregnancy specialist) so you can make a plan with him / her for a successful pregnancy. I wish you all the luck with conceiving and delivering a health baby.

Hi C.W. I too have fibromyalgia and am due April 3rd. I never have been on any medication for my fibromyalgia so I would definitely check with a dr. Also depending on the severity of your fibromyalgia, pregnancy could be interesting. I found that during the first 2 trimesters that my symptoms actually went away. The last trimester has been a bit miserable, but I find keeping active helps tremendously. I hear that b___stfeeding also helps with the symptoms of fibromyalgia as well. There is so little research available on the effects of pregnancy on fibromyalgia. I wish you the best and if you have questions, you can email me at [email protected]
